Toni Buzzeo was born on October 4th in Dearborn, Michigan. She began visiting libraries at a very young age and, really, never left. Her first job was as a page at the Dearborn Public Library. That doesn't mean she became part of a book! Pages put books back on the shelves so other borrowers can find what they're looking for.
Ms. Buzzeo held a series of more responsible jobs in the library until she went to college at the University of Michigan and earned a BA and MA in English language and literature. She traveled to the University of Rhode Island to obtain her master's degree in library science. She has worked in public libraries as a children's librarian and at Longfellow School in Portland, Maine where, until recently, she was the Media Specialist. She was honored as the Maine Library Media Specialist of the Year in 1999. Today, Ms. Buzzeo concentrates on writing full-time. She is the author of the books you see here, as well as several more forthcoming. Her books for teachers and librarians are highly respected: Terrific Connections with Authors, Illustrators, and Storytellers (co-authored with Jane Kurtz), 35 Best Books for Teaching US Regions (also co-authored with Jane Kurtz), and two books on Collaborating to Meet Standards. Ms. Buzzeo lives and works in Maine, but she travels all over the country speaking to kids and adults about her life's work—children's books!
