Born on October 21st in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Ann Cameron grew up in the north woods, fishing, walking, and riding her pony, Paint. Her first book was The Seed, published in 1975. Ms. Cameron's books about Julian, Gloria, and Huey are enormously popular. They are based on the stories told by Ms. Cameron's friend, Julian. In 1998, The Secret Life of Amanda K. Woods was a National Book Awards finalist. Her most recent book, Colibri, has been highly praised by critics. Ms. Cameron lives in Guatemala with her husband and two cats. She is the volunteer supervisor at the library in Panajachel.
