Don't You Know There's a War On? James Stevenson
New Kid on the Block Worst Person in the World

James Stevenson was born on July 11th but in what year it's not known. Researchers think he was a young boy during World War II. One of his books deals with the topic of WWII , Don't You Know There's A War On?. His father went back into the service during WWII and his mother read to him a great deal during this time. James is not only a wonderful writer but an illustrator as well. His cartoons have appeared regularly in The New Yorker. A few of James' books are The Mud Flat Olympics, Yard Sale, Mud Flat April Fool, What's Under My Bed?, That Terrible Halloween Night, and Worse Than Willy. Mr. Stevenson does not only create picture books but has written several novels for middle grades and especially boys who find reading a challenge: The Bones in the Cliff and its sequel, The Unprotected Witness. James Stevenson lives Connecticut.
