Working as a first grade teacher for 25 years has given author Jim Aylesworth a good understanding of his audience. Born on February 21st, Jim Aylesworth grew up to say, "Writing children's books is my way of being a teacher beyond the walls of
my classroom for children I may never know." His first book Hush Up! was published in 1980 and titles like The Burger and the Hot Dog (2001, illustrated by Stephen Gammell) continue to delight young audiences everywhere.
