Carlienne Frisch

Carlienne Frisch is a freelance Minnesota writer who writes career biographies, business and travel articles, and historical pageants. Her nonfiction children's books include such diverse topics as franchising, pet care, advertising, map reading, European countries, substance abuse, and author Maud Hart Lovelace.

With BS and MS degrees from Minnesota State University, Mankato, she is an adjunct communications professor at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. Mrs. Frisch offers elementary and middle-school presentations on how students can explore and develop as writers, sessions on writing about friendship (which work better with girls than with boys) and a session about Maud Hart Lovelace, the author of the "Betsy-Tacy" book series, who grew up in Mankato, Minn., and began writing when she was in elementary school. This presentation includes a video (or DVD, if preferred) about the characters and locales in the "Betsy-Tacy" books as well as many materials that can be handled and examined by students.

Although these presentations can be offered as three separate and distinct sessions, it is easy and beneficial to combine and overlap the ideas and materials.

Frisch enjoys reading mysteries and historical novels. She also collects, decorates, and furnishes doll houses. With her husband, Robert, she has three adult children and several grandchildren.
